My Message

I’ve taken up the challenge to help keep The Salvation Army’s unique Street2Home (S2H) program alive by sleeping rough for just one night on Thursday 31st August.

I know from the eight occasions I have participated in this event that it is likely to be cold … pretty uncomfortable… and at times noisy - some participants just can't get to sleep because it's too uncomfortable and prefer to spend the night yaffling around one of the fire pots.  The passing trucks in Davey Street also make it hard to get that shut eye, but it's basically what some people experience on many nights of the year, and that's who we are raising money for -  people who might be down on their luck, affected by mental illness, intellectual disability or drugs  and simply are not in a position to help themselves.  This is when the Salvos step in to lend a hand, so, if you can, give the Salvos a hand to help others who need their help by donating to my one night of discomfort, it will be very much appreciated!.

My target is $1200 but the Salvos are hoping to raise $100,000 overall, to make sure the S2H program can continue the great work they do for those who are homeless or in danger of becoming so.

Their help is needed across the State, not just in Hobart.

Click DONATE to make a secure online donation. And don't forget, it is tax deductible!

I know I only have to sleep rough for one night and I’m sure I’ll survive… imagine doing it every night…Let's help put homelessness to bed.

You'll probably find that the reason so many participants cannot sleep during the night - would be because of your incessant snoring. Good on you for taking part.
